The German company IBV - Automation GmbH is manufacturer of the real-time extension QWin®.
QWin® extends the QNX
Neutrino® RTOS with
Windows® and allows both
to reside concurrently on
a single processor - from low-price single-cores up to high-end multi-cores.
Therefore one complete computer unit can be saved in systems
which require a state-of-the-art
Windows user interface as well as hard real-time behaviour.
This single-computer approach brings
about many advantages, e.g.:

- Drastically increased reliability (MTBF)
- Saving of energy
QWin® bases on the proven
"RTOS VM" technology of KUKA Roboter GmbH.
"RTOS VM" works
within the world-wide installed robot control applications of
KUKA since many years. The basic
approach of QWin®
is the vision of one single control application with parts of
different real-time
requirements - where the real-time operating system exclusively
controls the system-wide
scheduling priorities at all times.
