High-Speed Software Timer for QNX®
The purpose is to provide a pure software solution to generate
timer interrupts faster than the
QNX system tick (typically 1 ms) under QNX6 without changing the
system tick itself.

There are two different implementations:
- Virtual Application Timer - virtualizing the existing 8253 PIT
- Local APIC Timer

- Saving costs for an additional counter/timer hardware
